The Primal Will

That which I describe as our Primal Will name is actually nothing more than life energy. Ideally, that life energy flows freely through us. It urges us to fulfill two basic psychic needs: Autonomy and Vconnection. In essence, we want nothing more than to be our Self, and to experience that together with others.

You can often still recognize glimpses of the Primal Will in a child. It shows itself and dares to express its emotions. At the same time, it wants to involve others in its game. Because together it is even more fun than alone!

Nature, too, is constantly looking for a balance between autonomy and connection. The tree in the forest takes care of itself. At the same time, her roots are connected to the organisms around her.

When we connect with our nature we become the best version of ourselves. A Healthy Me. We feel vital, happy and live in harmony with our environment. Fortunately, there are also more and more mature people who embody this natural state of the Will.

The Uprooted Will

Due to stress and unconscious (trauma) patterns, a child is often not provided with his primal needs. This confuses the child and affects his roots. The tree grows crooked. The child will adapt to the environment. Its roots nourish others, rather than itself. It does not grow into the strong and graceful tree it potentially is.

Uprooting of the Will often proceeds insidiously. Sometimes there is a turning point or trauma, which has an immediate devastating effect. When the Primal Will in a child is disturbed, you see a change in vitality, spontaneity, confidence and curiosity. The child becomes more mental and reactive. His will is primarily aimed at preventing experiences that frighten, hurt or hurt him.

A Rootless Will pinches off life energy. The result is not being fully present. Dissociation. Decoupling of the life force. This undermines the growing child. Often slow, and invisible. But once mature, sooner or later it will collapse under its own weight.

The Liberating Will

The tree falls. The willpower is gone. Worms and fungi. There is no escape anymore. The old life dies. Scary. Feelings of panic, desperation, depression and fatigue. Yet in this crisis, in every bit of dying, there is also an opportunity. The chance to live through and transform fears that held us back. To make an authentic connection with ourselves and the world around us. Walking the Authentic Path.

I describe this liberation process in detail in my book: As Free As I Want?. When I wrote this book years ago, I myself was far from ready to face my fears. But the book cast its shadow ahead. And it got dark by itself. Everything wants to be lived through and come to the light. The caterpillar becoming a butterfly. The transformation. From dependent to autonomous. From reactive to creative. From impulsive, to constructive. From entanglement to connection.

The Spirited Will

When the Will in a person is liberated, the life energy can flow again. The Primal Will is now aware of itself. And of that which wants to be done. A vision dawns. Focus and dedication are present. Step by step the greater Work can manifest. From your own core. With respect for the environment. Co-creation. Synchronicity. Flow. Seeing the forest through the trees. It is wonderful to see how joy in life can return.
